Job Description:
Minimum Salary: $67,696/Days: 185 Primary Purpose: Provide
parents and students in special education with in home or community
based training or viable alternatives that assist the student with
acquisition of social/behavioral skills. Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from accredited
university Valid Texas teaching certificate in special education
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of evidence-based intervention
strategies for working with parents and students with autism and
other disabilities Knowledge of proper assessment protocols for in
home and parent training Knowledge of how to provide services for
students in alignment with students’ individualized education
programs in order to promote generalization of skills from home to
school Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and
interpersonal skills Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and
written) Experience: Previous experience working with students who
have more significant social, emotional, and behavior difficulties
and experience in working with parents who have a child with a
disability Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional and
Program Management 1. Liaison will observe classroom activities and
structure in order to support parents in implementing similar
procedures and supports at home. 2. Foster positive school and home
relationships by initiating practical and effective activities for
assisting families in management of the student at home. 3. Design
parent-training session to address the needs of students. 4. Work
cooperatively with teachers, parents, and students to identify and
implement appropriate behavior interventions that can be applied
across the home and school settings. 5. Evaluate the need for the
related services of parent training and in-home training to ensure
timelines for services are met. 6. Conduct ongoing assessment of
student/parent achievement through data collection procedures. 7.
Implement specific goals and objectives developed by the ARD
committee. 8. Promote a positive tone for school/community
relations by leading parent groups and work collaboratively between
home and school. Communication and Community Relations 9. Establish
and maintain a professional relationship and open communication
with principals, teachers, staff, and parents. Professional Growth
and Development 10. Participate in staff development activities to
improve job-related skills. 11. Attend and participate in faculty
meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Other 12.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports,
records, and other required documents. 13. Perform other functions
that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor. 14.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
