qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Lufkin, Texas, 75904! Pay

Critical Care experience Description: Will be floated between two
critical care and stepdown units. ICU has 24 beds and PCU has 26
beds. Patient ratios are 2:1, and may reach 3:1 depending on
acuity. PCU ratios are 4:1. Required certifications include ACLS
and BLS. Common patient diagnoses include cardiac patients post
CABG or PCI, sepsis, DKA, and respiratory failure. RNs are required
to titrate drips. Common titratable and/or set rate drips include
Levophed, amiodarone, heparin, precedex, propofol, cardene, nitro,
neosynephrine, and dopamine. Charge Nurse is on the floor, and a
House Supervisor is present on each shift. There are no nurse aids
normally in ICU; 1-2 in PCU per shift. An intensivist is in-house
during the day, and hospitalists are available all hours.
Respiratory therapy is present in ICU 24/7. Equipment includes
vents, Bipap, and Airvo. Bedside monitors and a monitor bank are
available at the charge desk. Monitor techs are on-site, and RNs
are trained to read strips. Shifts are from 7 AM to 7 PM. Weekend
requirements may necessitate working every other weekend. Holiday
requirements depend on coverage. There is no call or standby
requirement. RNs are expected to work either ICU or PCU with
occasional floating to other departments if necessary. Dress code
is navy blue scrubs. There is a new employee orientation during the
first week. A cancellation policy applies, allowing cancellations
for a specific number of shifts depending on assignment length. The
